Referencing the Chinese restaurants of my youth I envisaged this as the Honey Chicken of all my paintings. With the flocked wallpaper and over the top gold and red decor, this oversize painting of a ginger jar was one of my first attempts to go big or go home. It was intended to be a part of a mid year show of large paintings which sadly did not eventuate due to unforeseen tragic circumstances earlier in the year. It did, however, get an outing and find a new home during my China Cabinet of Curiosities show.
