Hanging in the Balance 2025

Double barred finches used to be regular visitors to our garden prior to the drought, but since then we may have a couple of visitors occasionally. I miss their little friendly clown faces in the yard, so I have given them a not so stable foundation to perch upon, which includes the famous willow pattern which is a tale of forbidden love and the couple who are reunited after death as a pair of doves. I even have the little clown faced finches performing circus acts on my precarious porcelain.

Painted as part of my contribution to the A Nest in the Hills: The Symbiosis of Women and Birds in Contemporary Australian Art at Mudgee Arts Precinct December 2025 to March 2026.
