The collective noun of crows is known as a “murder” so when my lovely friends at Artisan on Lewis said they were doing a book themed exhibition when the Mudgee Readers Festival was on, I knew exactly what I was going to paint. My ‘not so’ secret guilty pleasure is crime novels. Not violent bloodbaths, but gentle whodunnits, full of red herrings… I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I had no troubles finding crime novels with a bird in the title… in fact I could do a series of these given the number of books I found…
