One Lump or Two 2016

We have a family of resident magpies who kindly share their territory with us. They have been known to steal our poor harassed cat’s crunchies, especially when they are nesting, so I have many photos of their thieving antics of beaks in the cat bowl. When painting this picture I had visions of the magpies using their beaks as dainty sugar tongs, delicately retrieving sugar cubes out of an ornate Royal Crown Derby Imari sugar bowl.

This painting has been shown at Bundaberg Regional Gallery as part of their You, Me and a Cup of Tea Exhibition from the 2nd of February until the 19th March 2017.
