Spotted Pardalote 2013

This has to be my favourite bird. They are tiny and often difficult to see because they spend most of their time in the tops of trees looking for their favourite food, lerp (I didn’t know what it was either)… Except when they come down to nest, and then, amazingly, they build a tunnel in riverbanks or retaining walls, with their nesting chamber at the end of it. How cute and weird is that?
