Having moved from Sydney to a bush block 30 minutes out of Mudgee I was surprised and delighted by the number and variety of birds which come to visit. In the city we seemed to only have the large or aggressive birds, whereas here we had birds of all shapes and sizes, from the smallest, the weebil, all the way up to the wedge tailed eagle. I started painting them as a way to try and identify them. What better way to analyse their body shape, colours etc… and it grew from there.
